Detail from Adelaide River

Detail from Adelaide River

A detail from my painting of the Adelaide River with: Mertens and Mitchells
Watermonitors; Rocket and Northern Pobblebonk frogs, the Rakali (actually from Humpty Doo, where they don't have white tail-tips!)
This 2m tall watercolour is dedicated to my late beloved husband, Captain Mike Bowman, who provided the navigation maps which were my starting reference for this work. He came to know the River from conducting marine examinations for the Coxwains who led the crocodile cruises. We explored the River together, sometimes by boat, at other times flying down-stream and up-stream to Escape Cliffs. His jungle navigation skills never failed, even when we tried to walk to the River’s source.
